Dakota Blue

 Dakota Blue Richards was born 11 April 1994. She is an English actress. Her first film role at 13 was in The Golden Compass, as the lead role of Lyra Belacqua. Other lead roles include the wayward teenager April in Dustbin Baby and Maria in the 2009 film The Secret of Moonacre. She was Franky Fitzgerald, a third generation actor in the British teenager drama Skins in 2011. She also has appeared in roles on film, television as well as on stage.Richards was born in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the Fulham Road, London. She was born in Sussex by her family, who later moved to Newlands School. After being a student at St Paul's Primary School, she attended Blatchington Mill School, Hove, and KBis Theatre School, Brighton. She later stated that she would like to play Lyra. Ten thousand people were selected for auditions. Philip Pullman, the writer of the novels stated that "As the moment came to see Dakota's screen-test I realized that my search was over." Chris Weitz, the director said that Richards "made what could have been an extremely difficult choice seem like a breeze.
